Middlebury College, a private liberal arts college serving approximately 2,800 students, is often referred to as a "Little Ivy" because it shares many characteristics with the Ivy League schools which are known for academic rigor, a prestigious reputation, and a strong sense of community.

Students are often drawn to Middlebury for its strong academic reputation as well as the top-notch facilities, excellent libraries, study abroad programs, and opportunities for research.  Founded in 1800, it’s the second oldest college in Vermont.  Their close-knit community offers a 9:1 student-to-faculty ratio and an average class size of 16. Students can choose from more than 850 courses in 45 majors, as well as STEM and pre professional programs

Middlebury offers students a strong global perspective, whether through study abroad programs, internships, or language immersion - all designed to help students develop a broad worldview and prepare them for careers in international relations, global business, and other fields. They are also renowned for the Middlebury Language Schools in which students have the opportunity to study languages in immersive settings, with many students becoming highly proficient in multiple languages during their time there.

Another draw is the college’s commitment to environmental sustainability and environmental studies. The college is deeply invested in sustainability, with a number of programs focused on environmental policy, science, and the outdoors. The picturesque New England campus, located in the beautiful natural setting of the Green Mountains, provides easy access to outdoor activities like hiking, skiing, and mountain biking.
